Singularity - The race to future

Singularity - the point when machine intelligence surpasses our own and goes on to improve itself at an exponential rate - will happen by 2047, according to Masayoshi Son, the Japanese tech Mughal leading SoftBank. He added that he expects one computer chip to have the equivalent of 10000 IQ within the next 30 years. He believes that our world will fundamentally change as a result of so-called superintelligence that will be able to learn and think for themselves. And there will be many kinds - flying, swimming, big, micro, run, two legs, four legs, 100 legs. Hence, he's rushing to invest as much in these tech, to be a future dominant player. While we race to the future, below two interconnected factors could derail these plans.

The US Dept of Homeland Security issued an emergency directive for carriers originating out of 10 airports in the Middle East and North Africa to store larger electronic devices (bigger than phones) in checked baggage based on ‘evaluated intelligence’ to be concerned about attempts by terrorist groups to circumvent aviation security. The ban followed within hours followed by the UK has more protectionist views than the security concerns.
The CEO's of the US carriers have met President Trump in Feb and complained the subsidies received by these airlines.
A sad event marking the bloody anniversary of Brussels attack took place in the heart of London, near the Westminster fort. Though the story is still unfolding, these events have increased security concern in the present world. With the IS being hunted in Syria, there is an exodus of terror to the distant shores and EU is their largest and easiest target. This is increasing the favour towards more protectionism compounding the already divided world.
While the eradication of global terror could be through a coordinated effort, the path of nations seems to be otherwise by moving themselves into shells.
